Georgia Southern University recently recognized more than 1,350 students for excellence in academics on the Fall 2015 President's List. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized more than 2,800 students for excellence in academics on the Fall 2015 Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

To be eligible for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

The following students have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology for Fall 2015.

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Dr. Bonita C. Jacobs, president of the University of North Georgia, has recognized more than 1,200 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2015 semester.

The following local students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the Dean's List for the 2015 fall semester at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

Troy University is pleased to recognize students who graduated during the fall semester/Term 2 for 2015. Fall semester graduates include students at TROY's campus in Troy, Ala. Term 2 graduates include students at campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., and Global Campus, which consists of teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Congratulations to the newest group of Georgia State Alumni! Over the summer, Georgia State conferred degrees to over 1,600 students.

The Robert L. Blakely Endowed Scholarship in Anthropology is given to an anthropology senior-level student who shows strong potential in the field of anthropology.

Students received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree from Samford University.

Georgia Southern University recently held its annual spring commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students at Hanner Fieldhouse and Allen E. Paulson Stadium. University President Brooks A. Keel, Ph.D., conferred more than 3,300 graduate and undergraduate degrees during two separate ceremonies to accommodate the graduating classes.

More than 1,700 students made the spring 2015 Deans' Lists at the University of North Georgia (UNG) for achieving a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B. The deans of UNG's five colleges — The College of Arts & Letters, The College of Education, The College of Health Sciences & Professions, The Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics — announced the names of students who made their respective lists.

The university's spring commencement ceremonies were held May 1-3 on UNG's Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses. This spring semester, UNG conferred some 1,300 degrees. Additionally, 36 graduating members of the Corps of Cadets took oaths as second lieutenants in the National Guard or U.S. Army.

The Dr. David Schwartz Memorial Scholarship was established in 2013 through a lead gift from Georgia State University alumnus Lamar Smith, and other Georgia State alumni and friends in memory of Dr. David A. Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz was a professor of marketing in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, and was considered a leading American authority on motivation.
